Polak retired from the AFL in after games, having never fully established himself in five seasons with the Dockers and courageously battled back from being hit by a Melbourne tram while with his second club Richmond.

For now, the vision is decidedly blurry, and not good enough at the moment to secure the signature of Gibbs.
